OUR ADVENTURES

Lostwithiel

Lostwithiel, the ancient stannary town, was once the economic hub of Cornwall’s rich mining history. Today this medieval town is the antiques capital of Cornwall, host to regular fairs and antique shops, but the streets and surrounding area are also worth exploring for foodie treasures.

North Cornwall Trail

This adventure around the picturesque Camel Trail starts with a leisurely stroll around the lovely old town of Wadebridge. As is typical of so many Cornish towns, Wadebridge has retained its independent businesses and thereby its individuality, so take a peek at The Old Forge Fish Shop, Wadebridge Wines and some of the traditional butchers, before enjoying a quick espresso made with Cornish roasted Origin coffee, at the Relish Deli Café. The owner, Hugo, is a past UK Barista Champion and really knows his stuff.

To the city

Truro, Cornwall’s only city, boasts granite cobbled streets, Georgian mansions and a gothic style Victorian cathedral. But amongst this understated grandeur the feel is of a traditional country market town, particularly on Saturdays when Truro’s Lemon Quay comes alive with the weekly Farmers’ Market, featuring a mouth-watering array including home baked bread, the freshest local fish, hand made preserves, locally reared organic meats, flavoursome Cornish duck, smoked fish and local cheeses. A perfect place for any foodlover to stop off and meet some of Cornwall’s award-winning food producers face-to-face.

Heading West

Our most westerly Food Adventure starts close to the historic market town of Penzance on Mounts Bay, the departure point for the passenger ferry and the helicopter to the beautiful Isles of Scilly. Penzance is a bustling town filled with small independent shops. Make sure you call in at a Warrens Bakery and pick up some of their traditional Cornish saffron cake, made just a few miles away to a time-honoured recipe.
