The BBC Radio 4 Food & Farming Awards 2012 are now open for entries and are looking for those hidden gems within your local community, in the search for the very best in British food.

Farmers, cooks, market traders, food and drink producers and retailers are all in the game,  so let’s make sure there are lots of entries from Cornwall this year!

Nominations for the 2012 Awards

The awards make a difference: they celebrate pioneering business ideas and give heart to people working under the media radar who’ve often pulled off incredible feats when all the odds and conventional thinking were stacked against them.

Who will this year’s winners be? It’s up to YOU. It could be a cook in your local school, works canteen or residential home. A takeaway that’s doing what most takeaways don’t: sourcing with imagination and flare. A farmer producing great crops who’s also bringing benefits to the environment….. You know who they are!

This year’s judges are Angela Hartnett, Valentine Warner, Adam Henson, Arthur Potts Dawson, Victoria Moore, Pete Brown, Charles Campion, Christine Tacon, Helen Crawley, Kath Dalmeny, Simon Parkes and myself.

We’re all waiting to hear from you now… Without you, the time and commitment they’ve made don’t mean a thing. We all look forward to reading your nominations.
