The Top 5… Cornish Crab Sandwiches
We've scoured the county, and with some help from your suggestions, we've decided on what we think are Cornwall's ultimate Cornish crab sandwiches - enjoy!
Colroger Deli & Coffee Shop, Mullion Sarah White’s crab sandwich, sold in her petit deli in Mullion, truly is the stuff of legend. The most popular item on the menu and available to eat in or take away, every delicious sandwich comes with a promise that it contains at least 100 grams of fresh, white, succulent crab meat, landed just minutes away in the picturesque Kynance Cove. Scrumptious – we can’t think of a better way to do the crab-wich.

Rick Stein’s Deli, Padstow The crab sandwich hasn’t ceased gaining in popularity at Stein’s Deli in Padstow, and we can see why. Also a personal favourite of The Man Himself, this one comes on homemade wholemeal bread from the nearby Stein’s Patisserie, and is adorned with mayo, chilli, parsley, lemon and rocket for an extra bit of bite. The crab meat’s certain to be Cornish, fresh and delicious too. You can get hold of them every day,

Falmouth Bay Seafood Café, Truro This tiny gem of a seafood restaurant in Truro prides itself on its careful, local, sustainable sourcing, and with solid five-star Tripadvisor ratings, it looks like all that work pays off. You’ll only find crab on the menu in summer when it’s in season, so make the most of it while it’s there. Standing among classic main courses, the crab sarnie comprises 100% white meat, served on granary bread and accompanied by baby leaf salad and a mouth-watering lemon mayo. Open for lunch from 12 and dinner from 7.

Rosevine, Portscatho Rosevine’s coastal location next to Porthcurnick beach is not only picturesque, but also ideal for fresh, local seafood, and from March to September you’ll even be able to dine on the crab from the hotel’s very own pots that bob about in the bay. Pop that onto a couple of slices of fresh, homemade bread, slap some tapas-style potato skins and sour cream on the side then serve it all on a platter, and we think you couldn’t come very much closer to perfection. The house kitchen is open from 9 ‘til 9 and you can even savour your food in the garden whilst taking in the sea view.
