Who can join?

Farmers and growers, factories, shops, restaurants, cafés, delis, caterers and hotels – this is the one for you.  Any business that produces, prepares, serves or sells food and drink and is based in Cornwall or the Isles of Scilly can join our network.

A business selling or serving, but not producing, food or drink must be able to demonstrate that it regularly uses produce from Cornwall or IOS.

If the main business premises are outside Cornwall or IOS, at least one business premises must be in Cornwall or IOS and the business must be able to demonstrate that it regularly uses produce from Cornwall or IOS.

Why do I have to pay?

Some may think an organisation like ours must be funded in some way by the Powers That Be. Not so. We’re on our own and therefore unashamedly commercial.  We like it that way, and so do our members, because it means we stand or fall on what we can do for them.  Being independent makes us nimble, instinctive and, when it’s in our members’ interests, challenging. We are passionate about creating a sustainable food economy for Cornwall.

How can I make the most out of my membership?

First and foremost, we can lead your horse to water, but we can’t make it drink! If we’re going to shout about you and put you forward for the promotional and trade opportunities that come our way, we need to be up to speed with what’s happening in your business. So do tell us. Likewise, we rely on you to pick up the opportunities we put out. We nearly always use electronic comms, so keeping an eye on your inbox and our social media channels can pay dividends.

It’s also true that the more you use us, the better return you’ll be able to see on your investment.

Do you give out grants?

No, but we can signpost you to people who do and we also have a good track record in helping our members put together successful grant applications. This is one of our professional services that members can access at a preferential rate.

I’d like some business advice; can you help?

Of course! Many of our members say the best thing about being part of CFD is knowing we’re at the end of the phone and nearly always able to answer those niggly questions that come up from time to time. And if we don’t, we probably know someone who can.
